Light Up for Mito

St Kilda Sea Baths Lights Up Green for Mito Awareness

On Saturday, 20 September 2025, the St Kilda Sea Baths will glow green as part of Light Up for Mito, a global campaign during World Mitochondrial Disease Week (WMDW).

We’re proud to join landmarks, buildings, and monuments all around the world turning green to shine a light on mitochondrial disease (mito) — a devastating genetic condition that robs the body’s cells of energy. Without enough energy, the body’s organs and systems can’t function properly, and sadly, mito can be life-threatening.

By lighting up the Sea Baths, we’re standing with the Mito Foundation and the global community to raise awareness and support those affected by mito. Each glowing landmark is a beacon of hope and a reminder of the urgent need for research, support, and understanding of this disease.

We invite everyone to visit St Kilda Beach on the evening of 20 September and see the Sea Baths illuminated in green. Take a photo, share it on social media, tag Mito Foundation and help spread awareness.

Together, we can shine a light on mito and bring the community closer to a future where this disease no longer takes lives.
